Care Guide for the Artena Living Wall (
)

Everything you need to know to keep your plants in excellent health: watering, light, soil, and repotting. Simple, clear, and comprehensive.

The Artena Irrigation System

The Artena living wall operates using a capillary and drip irrigation system built into the wall-mounted planter. No preserved plants—just real, living plants with a real watering system.

🌿 The concept in a nutshell

Pour 500 ml of water into the top → the system dispenses it drop by drop → the plant absorbs as much as it needs → any excess is collected at the bottom. Guaranteed to last 3 weeks.

The 3 key components

1
The upper tank

Located at the top of the planter. The external gauge allows you to check the water level without opening the planter.

2
The drip system

Water flows gradually toward the roots. The flow is regulated to prevent overwatering.

3
The lower reserve

Excess water collects here. Empty it if it's full—a sign that the plant is well-hydrated.

Watering: Frequency and Amount

That’s the question we’re asked most often. The answer is simple: 50 cl of water every 2 to 3 weeks.

💧 The Artena Golden Rule

Check the external gauge. If it reads "low" → add 500 ml. If it reads "high" → wait. Never force watering if the reservoir is still full.

In winter, the interval may extend to 3–4 weeks. In summer, it may shorten to 10–14 days. Go by the gauge, not the calendar.

Mistakes to Avoid

Watering without checking the gauge

Overwatering is more dangerous than underwatering. Always check before watering.

Pour more than 50 cl at once

The reservoir is calibrated for 50 cl. Any excess may cause overflow or saturate the substrate.

Use unfiltered hard water

Limescale deposits can clog the dropper. Use filtered or rainwater.

Brightness and prime location

Most of the plants selected by Artena are chosen for their tolerance to indirect light. They are suitable for most indoor environments.

☀️ General rule

Avoid direct sunlight (which can cause leaf burn) and rooms without windows. Indirect natural light is sufficient for all our plants.

Change the facade or the plant

One of the key strengths of the Artena system is that everything is designed to be easily adjusted without tools.

1
Change the facade

Pull the front panel toward you—it will snap off. Place the new one on and press until it clicks into place. 10 seconds.

2
Change the plant

Unclip the front panel, gently remove the plant along with its potting mix, and insert the new one. Water afterward.

3
Replace the substrate

Every 12 to 18 months. Artena potting mix (coconut fiber + perlite + sphagnum moss) is available in the store.
